General knowledge, skills, and abilities include excellent organizational and time management skills; the ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing with a wide range of people; the ability to maintain effective working relations with MSL employees, other state employees, computer vendors, and the general public. Lastly, the successful applicant will possess the ability to listen to conflicting opinions, facts, and needs; facilitate consensus; balance technology advances with the related people issues and make compromises for the best interests of all involved.
Other experience and training that would be beneficial, but is not required, includes an understanding of MSL's mission, values and goals and proficiency with Microsoft products such as Outlook, Excel, Word, and Access.
The knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform the duties of this position are usually acquired through a combination of education and experience equivalent to a 2-year degree or bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Management, Business Administration, or a closely related field. Other combinations of education and experience that could provide such knowledge, skills, and abilities will be evaluated on an individual basis.

This agency may use a training assignment. Employees in training assignments may be paid below the base pay established by the agency pay rules. Conditions of the training assignment will be stated in writing at the time of hire.
